Okay, here's the deal about my problem. I have recently gotten a .com domain from 1and1.com and I originally had it on my forums. I recently switched it to my website but now only some people can view and others can't view my website. Here's a link to my website. http://www.aknightstales.com I've asked the people who it works for and it has nothing to do with the browser so I was just wondering if anybody knows a solution to my problem. QUOTE(Slay @ Jul 10 2006, 07:51 PM) I recently switched it to my website but now only some people can view and others can't view my website. I've asked the people who it works for and it has nothing to do with the browser so I was just wondering if anybody knows a solution to my problem. Just what do you mean by "some people can view and others can't" Do you mean the graphics don't come up or that they cannot pull the site up at all; like they get an error message? I can see your site home page fine (using iExplorer), but some of the links are not accessable. I get an error saying that the "While trying to retrieve the URL: ~http://akt.trap17.com/~ (excluding the ~s) The following error was encountered: Unable to determine IP address from host name for akt.trap17.com"

Well I can view this site fine and even though it doesn't matter I am using firefox. I don't have an idea on why it wouldn't be working. If you switched domains maybe people need to clear their cookies and cache in order to be able to see them again. Or they could just have an old version of an internet browser that doens't let them see a certain type of coding.

From what I can tell, your domain was purchased around July 9th? And you changed to Trap17's name server soon after? Please know that it may take up to 72 hours before your domain change properly propagates through the whole internet global area. Therefore, it is normal that within first 72 hours some regions of the world can see and some cannot. In most example cases, North America region would be the first before Europe, etc. |

If you can see your site with proxy your site is up some times server has downtime ( trap server is 99% uptime ) for check your server status click at here : http://www.xisto.com/helpdesk/index.php?cmd=status Some times some ISP filters the sites so many peoples can not view that site but if your isp block your site you can see your site with proxy ( phpproxy , cgiproxy) and .... if your site is filter you must change your domain name or browse your site by ip ISP filters the site by url for example when i type www.yahoo.com this string at my isp check and then my isp show me www.yahoo.com if www.yahoo.com is in filter database i can not view site |

Hmm, well I tried clearing my cookies and I have the latest version of Internet Explorer. I guess I'll just have to wait a while longer and see if it works then. I don't quite understand what your saying in your post farsiscript. :/

It's seems that I can view your site, though, when I click on the website link, it's not working for me just yet either. I just get a page cannot be displayed, and I'm in North America. Your forum and other stuff seem to be coming up fine though. Hopefully it's just something that will work itself out in a couple days if things still need to work it's way around the world. And to be honest, I didn't really get what farsiscript was saying either. It's a bit too over my head I'm afraid lol. Maybe he can explain it again |

Here's a Geektalk - English translation of what farsiscript said: "If you can visit your site using a proxy (a way into the internet that always changes, such as dial-up, phpproxy, or cgiproxy) then it is fine. Sometimes the server that hosts your site goes down. This shouldn't happen if you are hosted by Trap17, as we are up 99.9% of the time. To check how often your site has been up, use the link he said. Sometimes the guys you bought your internet from make it so that some sites can't be accessed, but if this is the case with your site, using the stuff I mentioned will let you get past that. If your site is blocked, change the adress to it or use it's IP address, as only the URL is blocked." If my translation doeasn't make sense, then you shouldn't be using a computer. Proper propagation time period is always needed when new domain is associating with hosting. It's been covered and also listed in Trap17 Readme. Please search and refer to the guide first. Topic resolved and now closed. |
