1.) Offered Packages and Options

You can opt for Domain Hosting or Sub-Domain hosting. Trap17.com Recommends members to go for Sub-Domain hosting. Members are free to point their favorite short url address to trap17.com sub-domains. Sub-domains are activated instantly, they do not need configuring or do not involve Advanced Settings. They don't have to be Propagated, so they are fast and quick. Any changes to the accounts involving DNS reflect instantly. If you still want to go for Domain hosting, You are free to do so.

As is stated on the 'Services' page, you are required to have a certain number of posts and credits to be eligible to receive hosting. (Note: Trap17.com is an Advertising supported Website, but we do not put ads on your website. We put the ads on the forum which you post in.)

• Package 1: Requires 10 posts AND 10 credits; 20 MB space and 500 MB bandwidth (DOES NOT SUPPORT DOMAIN HOSTING)
• Package 2: Requires 25 posts AND 25 credits; 50 MB space with 1000 MB bandwidth
• Package 3: Requires 50 posts AND 50 credits; 100 MB space with 2000 MB bandwidth (DEFAULT PACKAGE)
• Package 4: Requires 100 posts; 150 MB space with 3000 MB bandwidth

THE ABOVE CREDITS REQUIREMENT ARE APPLICABLE ONLY TO NEW MEMBERS WHO DONT HAVE HOSTNG ACCOUNT AND ARE GOING TO SIGNUP FOR A FRESH ACCOUNT.

Members who have already registered their free web hosting account will have to request for upgrade. The upgrades are provided after we check the users posts. Higher packages are approved to those members who have a good forum participation record.

It is absolutely required that you reach the minimum post count before applying for each package; if you request a package that you do not qualify for, the application will be ignored. You can upgrade your account anytime you have reached the requested amount. However, it is appreciated if members only apply for additional space or bandwidth if they really need it. If you are only running a small web site with a couple of images and one or two pages, then you don't really need a lot of space or bandwidth, so you shouldn't really ask for it.

2.) Requesting your hosting

When you submit an application for hosting, please make sure that you include:
- The sub-domain you want, or domain where applicable (eg. example.trap17.com or example.com);
- And the username you wish to use (eg. example);

Requests that do not include the small amount of required information are generally ignored and deleted, so please make sure you get it correct.

You must include the following information when you register:

• Sub-domain or Domain (eg. example.trap17.com OR example.com)
• Name/Nickname
• Your Country
• Theme of website
• Reason for choosing us
• Confirmation you understand the rules and agree to stay active and contribute to the community.
• Package You want

You will be given the instructions on how to make your account after your request is accepted.

Here are some notes in requesting hosting:

Spam Notice: Due to spamming reasons, it is advised that you do not post your email address within the forums, as they it is viewable by anyone. From now on, please do not include your email address with your hosting applications - you will be able to set it the first time you login to cPanel.

Request Notice: Whenever your old hosting is denied (because of the lack of the number of posts for example), the request you posted will be closed. To request hosting after you met the requirements, you must re-post all your information again. Failing to do so may result in your request being denied again, due to the lack of the required information.

Domain Notice: We DO NOT purchase your domains! If you want a .com domain for example, you must register it yourself, and pay for it yourself. We will however, provide you with a sub-domain, if you do not own a top level domain.

You are free to upload large files and any legal stuff only till package 2. You cannot store large Files or provide large downloads in package 3 or 4. Large files consume a large part of our shared resources. We want to serve as many people as we can and we expect the members to utilize the shared resources peacefully.

You can be assured that we will NOT GO down and pack up, like some of our Competitors. ( Incase you had bad experiences before with other hosts.) You can trust us. Your files are safe on our servers. We respect your hardwork and your data and we Try our best to keep it safe.

Firstly, there is a limit of 8 characters in your account username. So you cannot request user names that are more than 8 characters in length (note that this is completely seperate to your forum user name). If you ask for a username longer than 8 characters, then it will be truncated - so 'mylongname' will become 'mylongna'. Just keep that in mind when applying, otherwise your cool-sounding and carefully selected user name might become something that sounds very retarded.

Secondly, it is preferred that the username and subdomain you are requesting are the same. It isn't absolutely required, just preferred.

And lastly, free UNI.CC domain names are no longer allowed to be used as your primary domain name when requesting an account - you must either select a Trap 17 subdomain, or a valid, existing top-level domain name (.com, .net, .org etc) that you currently own. This is due to a lot of problems that have been experienced with this service. You can still use a UNI.CC domain name with your account, but you will have to park it yourself from within cPanel.

After you get your hosting:
The following rules apply after you get your hosting:
- You must upload files to your account within one week. If you do not, we will consider that you do not need your account anymore!
- You must continue to be active in the forums. That means having the right amount of hosting credits. (We will discuss this later in this information page)
- You must not have any illegal or adult content, and no big files (as in Movies or BIG downloads)

You can directly FTP the IP address we gave you and upload your files.
Once you enter your username and password, you will be automatically be redirected to cPanel.
