You could use this too. Its from dmoz.org. If you submit in dmoz you don't need to submit separately in google also, google will easily pick up for crawling your site. Dmoz is free too.

For me it took 30 days that is a month time for google to index my site when I launched first in 2003. These days I wonder why google index sites so easily. May be they have more competitors who will steal the limelight from them.

Just submit your site url and wait for it. If you are desperate for your site to be listed, you could do it by paying it as well. But that may not make sense for the service you are looking for.

And not only that, you should try linking ur website to other sites. By doing this, you will be exposing your site for more crawling by the Google SE spiders and every other Search engine spider which will be crawling those sites you are linking to.

Adding a website to google is not easy. Is a big secret what google bots look in your website to decide if it is good to be indexed or not. There a lot of things that makes your website lose points... in theory, like repeated tags, frames, submit the website a lot of times...

It´s hard to reach the first places on google although your site contains exactly what a user wants.

Read a book titled Google Hacks 1st Edition, this book contain an algorithm on how google indexing the webpage. Basically, it will count your page rank based on key word, link to and from your site and etc. the algorithm is pretty complex that i don't understand

I'm not sure if this fits or not but you should try getting noticed with www.37.com because they submit alll their directories to 37 different search engines. Or you could get googled buy paying them they say they don't do it but if you goto the page and click google ads then you get put on the list.
