There is none. It's a proprietary format. Patented and Copyrighted by "Macromedia, inc". Therefor: They make sure that there are no free alternatives to their own product, they don't want to lose the money.

Of course there are plenty of cracks out there you could try. Sorry to keep the closed thread alive, but I feel for these guys who are trying to create something only to be told that the paintbrush is $500.

Not true. There are alot of free programs out there that do that. The only thing is they usually put there logo on top of it. I bought Sothink SWF Quicker for only $20. It's not that bad of a price, and it's very easy to use software. Just Google it.

Webbased Flash Editor
Best Free Flash Editor

I was also looking for something like that!

I found something fantastic... It's webbased and it's a "just" a simple Flash editor with no great advanced features, but I think it may be quite useful for a lot of people and it has some pretty nice features! :O)

Take a look:

These are very nice. I'm looking for a free flash maker to. I downloaded a .Fla file and all I want to do is edit the content text. Is there no way to do this without spending money?

Try this -- http://www.Powerbullet.Com/ -- it is freeware

Powerbullet Presenter is a small, simple and free program for creating presentations in the Flash™ format. You don't need any experience to create slick animated presentations by simply typing, clicking and dragging.

Powerbullet Presenter is specifically designed for creating multi-page presentations that are commonly used in electronic sales brochures and catalogues, splash screens, slideshows and student projects.

You can also create a self-running show, specifying delays on each page, or you can link the timing to the sound attached to each page.

Your presentations can be exported as an HTML page with an embedded SWF (Flash) file or as an executable file which you can run on any Windows PC.
