Game: Assault Cube
Version: v1.0.2
Size: 40 MB
OS Support: Windows (all), Linux, MAC OS

I found this free cross plataform action game just by beeing lucky, i was just searching for cool and free action games like counter strike and call of dutty with the google search engine when i found it, and what it inspired me to download the game and to install to try to play with it was the game screenshots, i always take a look to the game screenshots to see if the game style is what i like, and personally, i prefer to play WWII games or action games with the style of the games i described above.

You can play this game singleplayer and multiplayer, choose from dozens of maps to play in at anytime, the sounds are very good and aproprate to the game style, the graphics are very good, yeat, you do not need a very high-tech computer to play this game, it is very fast, they created an extremely cool action game.

You all know me, i always provide you with the best freebies i find on the internet, and i always try them first so that i always know what i am wrting about, so, i am pretty sure you will find this game awesome at the very least.

Hey LYON2,
Thanks for the great FPS. This is a nice lite game. Definitely easy on the resources. It even plays on my lap top. My son and I have been messing around with it for the last hour or so. I you like TCE or Combat Arms, you might like this game. It's not as graphically intense as those games, but it is fast paced with a lot of different maps and modes. I think I'll stick to the bot mode and set them on the easiest setting. Thanks again. smile.gif

Mr Inviso, thanks for the cool reply, i did try it and on my laptop too, and i have a amd dual core 1.9 with a nvidia 7000, but check out the minimum system requirements for this game at its website, i am pretty sure, without seeing it already that, you do not need a high-tech home pc or high-tech laptop, an average high-tech laptop will do the job quite well, but obviously, ram you will need for sure, i have 3 GB of ram.

The game is definitively great!

I played it on a laptop running Ubuntu 8.10 (Celeron M 1.5 GHz) with only 512 of RAM with an integrated graphics chip on highest settings and it didn't lag at all, even when I played on the internet! smile.gif

It really is a fantastic game fit into a tar.bz2 package taking only 40 megs of space and also the controls are extremly easy to learn biggrin.gif

Also the servers are full with people playing and it has a voting system for an ex. if a player needs to be kicked or another map to be played.

If anyone is curious about the minimum system requirements, they are not very high. This game is based off of the Cube engine (Hey, get it? Assault CUBE! biggrin.gif ) and I've played Cube on a machine with 768MB Ram, 32 MB Nvidia GeForce 2MX, 2.4Ghz P4. I bet you you could run it on 512 MB Ram and a 16MB OpenGL compatible video card.

I've played a version of that game. I still prefer Urban Terror. It's another cross-platform open source FPS. It has excellent onlline play, and has an interesting attempt at realism. There is a variety of weapons, all with somewhat realistic physics. There is also an interesting health measurement. You can get hit in different places, and if you are bleeding, you must use bandages. Also, getting injured slows you down. If you jump or sprint too much, you breathe more heavily and slow down. It's quite enjoyable.

Thanks curtis07, your contributions came with the highest quality in my opinion, you shared what i consider a great cross-plataform fps action game too, the urban terror is an awesome open source game too, but in terms of size, the download size is 700 MB, and the assault cube is 40 MB, so i understand now why the urban terror game provides a much more realistic and graphic intensive game comparing it with the assault cube game.

I am downloading the urban terror game, i will install it and play to see if it is that good, but i predict that it is, according to the screenshots at their website and information there and in some websites.
