Yes, it is true!

Now we can convert games, movies, programs of 400MB to 1 GB to a ridiculous size of 2MB or even 5MB, the point is that this unbelivable new program as an unbelievable high compression rate.

I know, i know, i was thinking like you are now, but the fact is that i installed this program and tryed it and it really compresses much and much more then the well known programs:

- Winrar
- 7-Zip
- Winzip

But how is that possible, i don't know, i really don't, but when i download a file with 2MB and when i extracted it, it took me hours to extract the full file, but in the end i have 440 MB of extracted files.

You may ask, but did not the tool downloaded the files from the internet?
No, my friends, i was not connected at that time, i wasn't even with the modem on, so, forget about that question.

This program has a but, like everything good and free has.

The problem is that you need tons of memory to compress a 500MB file to a compressed 5MB file, or else it will take hours to compress and also hours to extract too, but if you have a high quality pc, then you will take less time to extract, it all depends of your hardware and memory.

This program is free, so download it while it is still free, and try it.
This program has already 3.000 downloads in download.com, and it is now a popular tool.

It has no spyware or adware or virus.

After you install, it creates a context menu entry for all files, this means that if you right click on a file in your documents, for example, you can see an option named: "Compress to KGB" and you're on.

It's very easy to use, so try it here:

KGB-Archiver

--------------

After seeing some people that it say it works and others that it does not work, i decided to upload a simple sample.

This is a 12 MB file, when you extract, it is a 100 MB avi file, it has audio and video:
http://rapidshare.com/files/202124090/Clip9.rar.html

You can extract it with winzip or winrar, it is a zip file created with kgb archiver, it will extract very quickly, it is not a super compressed file.

I was so excited that I went to download it. I normally do not download programs especially from non-dot com site.

But I have some bad news to share regarding this awesome promising compression tool. It only works on uncompressed text data--otherwise it only saves at most 15%. Which may be a lot for some, but for me it's not much (anywhere from 2~3mb size difference per every 15mb file).

Here is the link to the data compression testing performed by the publisher.
http://www.icpnet.pl/~tomekpawlak/kgb/en/tests.php

I was hoping that I can compress my multimedia files but it looks like it's not going to be. However, for text and application files it sure does wonders.

It does not work well for me. It won't let me even select a folder. Just a single file. Is this happening to anyone else? If it is, please let me know. Also, I got a notification that a new version was available, but it was the same as the one from download.com ???

I tried it, and like BuffaloHelp said it does nothing for HUGE file sizes. It's nice for the conventional user, but for hardcore ones (like myself) it will be of little use.

it is obvious a 500 meg file cannot be compressed down to 2mb unless it is text. mp3, wmv, and other media types of data (Even executable files) are already compressed. Text is totally uncompressed, that's why you get such high compression rates. Text is also much easier to compress because of there are so many patterns.

psh for uncompressed data? nevermind this isn't too great though. gzip and whatnot do a good enough job anyways.

WOW nice compression ratio, some ever try it. i'm downloading it now, and i hope it really work, although i'm skeptic myself.
i see it must have a good computer spec. to be able o compress with god ratio. that sound very reasonable.

anyway, a tool like this it's alway very useful, for internet user, were bandwith really rules.

so the BIG question is, will it able ti do it?

This looks great, but many of my friends have tried it and they say that it doesn't live up to it's claims unless you've got half a gigabyte of Notepad documents lying around that need to be archived smile.gif With everything else there is no noticeable difference compared to other programs, and this one takes a lot longer too.
